Occupational Therapist - Prevention & Recovery from Psychosis Program
Salary: $33 - $36 / hour- Full Time, Benefits Eligible
Schedule: Typically Monday through Friday, days
Benefits: Approximate benefits package value: $23,000

This position works within Volunteers of America, Utah's Prevention and Recovery from Psychosis team. PREP often described as a "hospital without walls", uses a multidisciplinary team approach to provide intensive, integrated services where and when our clients need them—in their homes, at work and in other community settings. Volunteers of America, Utah's ACT Team members directly provide services that are individually tailored with each client and address their specific preferences and goals. The approach with each client emphasizes the relationship building and active involvement in assisting clients to make improvements in functioning, to better manage symptoms, to achieve individual goals and to maintain optimism. Bringing care to our clients dictates that candidates must be comfortable performing nursing duties like injections and drawing blood outside of a traditional healthcare setting.
Our Occupational Therapist works in conjunction with the team director, case manager, and psychiatrist .
Essential Duties
  • Provide assessments
  • Deliver services that address diverse social, cultural, gender, and economic needs of population served utilizing equity framework.
  • Adhere to PREP practice guidelines regarding training and certification.
  • Documents all services in a timely manner according to agency policies and procedures.
  • Performs community education and outreach to promote awareness of clinical high risk first episode psychosis and to promote collaborative relationships with referral sources in the community.
  • Supervises the Case Manager and Peer Support Specialist.
  • Participate in daily staff organizational meetings and treatment planning review meetings
  • Complete documentation and meet minimum service time based on PREP requirements
  • Attend work as scheduled.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy and licensed by the State of Utah to perform occupational therapy without supervision.
  • Experience working with adolescents and young adults with mental health challenges as well as trauma and substance use preferred.
  • Training and experience in evidence-based practices.
  • Experience working with individuals diagnosed with a serious mental illness and/or substance use disorder preferred.
  • Demonstrates an ability to use sound judgment within the scope of the position's responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and adapt to change.
  • Organized, detail oriented, self-starter.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel spread sheets
  • Work is performed inside and outside of an office environment; must have ability to climb stairs, enter client homes, as well as deliver services in shelter, on the street, etc.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a current driver's license, have a good driving record, and be insurable on the agency liability policy.
  • Must be able to pass Utah-DHS – Office of Licensing background screening and pre-employment drug screen.
